Leave Nothing Unsaid | Author Head Shots

Posted on February 26, 2013

Last fall, I had the pleasure of taking some head shots for wonderful woman who was developing a book project. She was working with an agency to create a web site and launch plan, and they arranged to take some photos of her in Atlanta. Unfortunately, the images didn’t really mesh with her book vibe. They were very corporate and too reminiscent of her days at IBM. She called and explained her need for photos that were more fresh, colorful and relaxed. (I had taken senior photos of her daughter a year earlier.) Curious, I asked if I could see the images that she wasn’t wild about so I’d know what to steer clear of in our session together. We had a good laugh that the black suit and library background contributed to Jody looking like a cross between Jane Pauley and Hillary Clinton, and she arranged to make a quick trip to Charleston.

Her new workbook, “Leave Nothing Unsaid,” walks readers through steps to write letters of affirmation and encouragement to the people they care about. With the often-maligned February Hallmark holiday still fresh in our minds, it’s easy to see how the heartfelt, handwritten sentiments can be more touching than store-bought ones (although both are enhanced by a lovely bundle of flowers). I wish Jody much success sharing her workbook and teaching her process. I hope you will read Jody’s bio and the backstory on the creation of her workbook. She has so much to give!

Jody Noland created Leave Nothing Unsaid, a workbook that teaches readers how to encourage the people we love most.

Bon Anniversaire, Caroline!

Posted on December 2, 2010

The chilliest morning of the season is the perfect time to catch up on some blogging and share this warm and sunny session. Caroline, the brunette, is oh-so-French — effortlessly chic and delightfully spontaneous. She called on me when she planned a beach jaunt with three of her dear friends, all of whom were celebrating birthdays the same weekend. A bit of bubbly on the beach — what a perfect way to ring in a new decade!

In hopes some of her joie de vie will rub off on me, I may opt for the French pronunciation of my biz name from this point forward:

A Writer, A Consultant… She's Supermom!

Late yesterday afternoon, Christy and I headed downtown to snap some photographs for the new web site touting her writing and workshop offerings. We had such fun soaking up the day’s last rays by the harbor. I have so many great shots to sift through and process, but here are a few of my talented and photogenic friend.

My big brother (“oldest brother” doesn’t seem nice when we’re 40something) blew through town over the weekend with his lovely bride and their gorgeous daughter, Jade. The adults shared a small overnight bag, but the little one had a suitcase brimming with various looks and more accessories than Fancy Nancy. Our mission was to capture some model-worthy moments of the soon-to-be-three gal. We had our work cut out for us, but the agencies are loving the photos and are eager to get a composite sheet printed and share this precious face with a bigger audience.
