Ashley & Zach | Charleston Engagement

Posted on March 13, 2013

Ashley and Zach were living in Mississippi when they traveled to meet with me early last year, and we took these engagement photos last spring. It’s high time I shared some considering they are having their Charleston wedding this weekend! Ashley loves pink, and this fun couple loves their zany dog Zoe, too, although the cute canine went on her own scratch-and-sniff Charleston tour with her grandparents during most of our session.

If you hear the cowbells ringing from Patriots Point this weekend (it’s a Mississippi State thing), you’ll know the Wynnes have exchanged I-Dos. Happy spring!

Sarah & Trey | Historic Charleston Engagement

Posted on October 17, 2012

The steamy September days finally subsided, and it was actually chilly early last week when I met Sarah and Trey downtown for their engagement photos. The cool air blew some crunchy leaves around and a few raindrops fell, signaling for us not to linger long unless we wanted to get soaked. I love how their autumn clothing choices were echoed in the spicy walls and green and gold window boxes we found while exploring many of the blocks near their downtown residences.

It was actually rather gloomy during part of this session, so I was even more grateful for my Canon 5D Mark III. The camera body I’ve been using this year had no trouble at high ISOs which would have made for some muddy pictures with my earlier versions of the 5D. You’ll notice there was no dramatic light to seek out, but cloudy skies are actually nice for shooting because the neither the bride-to-be nor her fiance had to squint to avoid glare. We wrapped up the session at Circa 1886, where these Boeing employees had their first date. We were disappointed that our plan to climb to the rooftop of the Wentworth Mansion for a black sky stormy panorama was foiled, but I love these images and hope Sarah and Trey will, too!

Sarah & Arthur | Charleston Garden Engagement

Posted on August 23, 2012

Sarah and Arthur have friends who generously offered up their lush private garden as the setting for their summer engagement session. Like many Charleston gardens, this haven has a little of everything: texture, color, sun, shade, water, stones and leafy goodness. Although I never tire of green, we ambled down the street to throw in a few more colorful backdrops. These two are so relaxed soaking up the summer splendor. I am really looking forward to their autumn wedding on Goat Island!

Claire & Miles | Cypress Gardens Engagement Session

Posted on July 23, 2012

Later this week, I’ll be spending the day with Claire and Miles when they wed at Magnolia Plantation. We had such fun paddling around Cypress Gardens for engagement pictures. They have infectious smiles and shared lots of laughs in the swamp. I’m looking forward to the weekend and documenting the start of their “happily ever after.”

And Claire, I’ve checked my calendar an am available to tag along on your honeymoon to Alaska. Thought you might heed the Wall Street Journal’s suggestion: Don’t Forget to Pack a Photographer.

Navigating a swamp is a lot like marriage. Yep, I'm sure there's a metaphor there.

Kameryn & Kyle | Fun Charleston Engagement

Posted on April 8, 2012

Another fun Charleston engagement session soaking up the splendor of spring! Kyle and Kameryn are obviously adorable, so the average Joe with a camera phone would have no issues snapping a photo worth keeping. Thankfully, they chose me to wander around with, and they were up for anything. Scaling rusty staircases, splashing about, sharing a playground with kids, sure! Anyone else get glimpses of Kate Hudson? Looking forward to their September wedding at Old Wide Awake Plantation. Congratulations you two!
