Vanessa | Bridal Portraits
Posted on September 20, 2011
Hurricane Irene, large and moody lady, attempted to thwart my plans to fly to DC and photograph Vanessa at her parents’ home in Virginia. I was able to leave Charleston just before the airport delayed some flights, and we enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon in Warrenton. Vanessa’s sister (her maid of honor) had just returned to the States, and her mom, grandmother and childhood friend were on hand watching Vanessa’s dress rehearsal. One of the highlights of the bridal portraits was when she let her dad have a first glimpse of her bridal beauty.
The ladies were agog. Dad was gobsmacked. I was just giddy to be there. It’s a unique privilege to be chosen to document such intimate family moments. I’m grateful to create something lasting for such a wonderful family.
Jennifer H. Smith usually photographs brides and families throughout the Carolina Lowcountry and happily embraces changes in topography.
