Charleston Baby | Family
Posted on August 18, 2011
Meet Ila Gray! What a precious six-month-old girl, and her mom should be the modern-day Ivory girl. Looking at these images, I’m amazed that you cannot really tell it was 100-plus humid degrees. Rebecca and her Charleston baby look flawless, and sweet pea never whimpered. I love the simplicity of Ila Gray’s antique gown and her mom’s dress.

Cody | Senior Portraits
Posted on August 16, 2011
Cody is the oldest of my eight nieces. She was the flower girl in our wedding. How could it be that she’s a Jeep-driving senior! She is incredibly creative, a talented artist, a fantastic big sis, a much-loved daughter and a patient cousin to all of the little ones that look up to her. She has a huge heart and a sense of matter-of-fact wisdom that is a rare find in teenagers. Oh, and she started doing handsprings shortly after taking her first steps. Being fliptastic comes in handy as she cheers on two squads throughout the year. Congratulations, Codybelle! Here’s hoping your senior year is as spectacular as you are!
I’ll wrap up with some zany shots of Cody and her adorable sister Mackenzie. I love you girls!

Able to leap tall Lego buildings in a single bound, Jennifer Smith can photograph you and yours in the great outdoors. Contact me to arrange an autumn session.
Liz & Andrew | DeBordieu Wedding Reception
Posted on August 6, 2011
Let’s kick off the week with part two of Liz and Andrew’s stunning DeBordieu wedding reception! The ceremony was held on the lawn of the DeBordieu Golf Club — check it out, if you haven’t already. Afterward, it was a quick trolley ride to the beach club for a seaside cocktail hour, first dance and . The tent looked fantastic, as Della Ramsey continued the festive citrus theme with the table settings, flowers galore, seaside touches, seating beachside and beneath the tent, and two lush boxwood bars.
I loved the time of day because it’s unusual to have the first dance for evening weddings take place on a sundrenched dance floor. After dinner, the sun dropped fast and the Atlanta Party Band made sure everyone had a great time. Liz and Andrew, along with the family and friends, soaked up every perfect minute of this day until the Rolls Royce whisked the newlyweds away.
Faceless Friday #25 | Mom Loves Baby Soft
Posted on August 5, 2011
The motherly sweetness just oozes from this glimpse of a mom and her plumply sweet six-month-old daughter. I usually prefer my black and white images to be just that — with bright whites and dark blacks. But this image needed a softer treatment for their matching velvety skin and those scrumptious “bittytiny” toes. (That’s my son’s word for squeezable small-scaled treasures.)
Sidebar: Anyone remember the silo-shaped bottles of pink, powdery Love’s Babysoft perfume? I think it was popular sometime between Le Freak’s “Chic” and Journey’s Escape album. So I heard.
See more Faceless Friday portraits, and contact Jen to book a session. I document baby toes, Chicklet teeth, constellations of freckles, pet whiskers and people having fun.
Charleston Lifestyle | Island Family
Posted on August 3, 2011
I always enjoy capturing the unscripted moments that take place between group poses or as we move from one scene to another, so this session was especially fun. An acquaintance from my Atlanta high school contacted me to take some photos of her clan enjoying the Charleston lifestyle one afternoon at her family’s beach house. Hopefully these moments will help keep summer fresh in their minds as the kids start back to school.
