Faceless Friday #24 | Horsing Around
Posted on July 29, 2011
Summer vacation has gotten the best of me. All the sun has fried my brain. I’ve been lax about blogging, but I’ll do better. Let’s kick off the weekend with a Faceless Friday post featuring two adorable sisters at Boone Hall Plantation. Yeehaw, it’s the weekend!
If your cowboys and cowgirls are looking for a field trip, contact me to schedule a portrait session. My photographer’s pass to Boone Hall makes it a perfect location for family sessions. Magical oaks, curvy bricks, sunset over the creek and room to roam.

Congratulations, Claire! This lovely Charleston senior is a 2011 graduate and a much-loved kidsitter to my two children. We had a fun session ambling around historic Charleston.
Liz + Andrew | DeBordieu Wedding
Posted on July 21, 2011
This DeBordieu wedding was simply fabulous! Liz and Andrew live in NYC and chose to marry at the beach colony where her family has enjoyed lots of wonderful times together. Liz is a Carolina Tarheel, so it’s easy to see why Andrew fell for her. His mom, brothers and buddies from the northeast had no problem adapting to the easy pace of this coastal haven. Liz and Andrew’s wedding was both relaxed and elegant with juicy citrus decor at both the ceremony and reception venues.
I had the pleasure of taking the couple’s engagement pictures (on her dad’s boat, “Tie the Knot”) and tagging along on Liz’s first gown fitting at Maddison Row. A few weeks prior to the wedding, I headed up the road again for Liz’s bridal session at Atalaya and DeBordieu. Congrats again to this handsome couple! Stay tuned for a separate reception post — there’s just too much beauty and fun to pare down into one post.
Liz’s recommended vendors include Della Ramsey (wedding planner extraordinaire), florals by Blossoms Events, Stox & Co. salon and calligrapher Traci Green. Andrew and his groomsmen look oh-so-dapper in their linen suits by J. Crew.
I love this bit of randomness. I photographed the tree on the right the day I met Liz for her bridal portrait session. The windsock with two hearts was blowing in the breeze on her mom’s porch the morning of the wedding.

I photographed the beautiful invitation suite (by Traci Green Designs) while Liz penned a note to her fiance.

The middle shot of the funny relative is one of many fantastic captures by Ashley Gillett, who was assisting me with this wedding. I love how the baby goes from weepy to happy thanks to his jubilant relative!
I’ll share the fantastic reception by the beach in a separate post. Congrats to Andrew and Liz!
Faceless Friday #23 | July 4 on Wrightsville Beach
Posted on July 8, 2011
We just spent a long weekend in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina with lots of Smiths. Boating, fishing, creek swims, boogie boarding, beach walks, cousin time and a continual spread of fantastic food (thanks, Aunt Jodie!) were capped off with a lovely evening at the Carolina Yacht Club, surely one of the most magical places on any coast.
As darkness fell, gobs of kids and their parents ran onto the beach to watch various fireworks displays from the Blockade Runner down to Carolina Beach. My kids and their cousins are among several glowy peeps who claimed the lifeguard stand to take in this fine evening beneath a crescent moon.
What do you do for fun? I’ll photograph your family, children or wedding — even if it’s not on a beach. Contact me to arrange a portrait or lifestyle session.
Faceless Friday #22 | Curious Catch
Posted on July 1, 2011
Kids throughout the land are frolicking on docks and beaches, scooping up and reeling in all sorts of interesting creatures. Today’s Faceless Friday shot features a fearless five-year-old showing this spiky treasure to his brother, sister and her pal. Even without seeing their expressions, you can gauge the mood by the ready-to-flee posture of the girls. That’s one hefty horseshoe crab!
Happy Fourth of July weekend!
