What a Year! | Best of 2010
Posted on January 2, 2011
As I look back through two computers and numerous drives archiving the year’s photos, I’m grateful for a fun year full of once-in-a-lifetime celebrations and the opportunity to capture the everyday moments of kids being kids. I’ve picked some favorites for a quick recap. For some of these it’s the composition, the expression, the color, the moment, the energy… oh, and I stuck to all horizontal shots because my blog design doesn’t handle verticals as well. (Hmmm, part 2 of faves?)
Thanks for the memories! Most of all, thank you for entrusting me with yours. Please keep spreading the word. And take a moment to comment at the end of the post to tell me which images are your faves (or if I left yours out). See you in 2011!

I love comments! Please share your thoughts by clicking “Leave a comment” below, and share my blog with anyone you know who may be looking for a portrait or wedding photographer. Thank you!

Jen,
Great job! I love how the pictures really capture the personality of the subjects. You have a great talent. My favorite is the sweet girl leaning against the brick/iron door frame. Keep up the great work
Haha, I love the shot of the family with the numbered tee-shirts! Can’t wait to see more from you next year.
Looking forward to having a handsome twosome by the sea for some fun with my new lens! A bientot!
Thanks so much, Sarah!
Yep, that Lady Angler is pretty hard to resist! Thank you, Gina, for the sweet note. Ah, the lighthouse kids is indeed a classic, but it would fall into the 2009 faves. We’ll have to join y’all for some inlet camping this summer and create some 2011 keepers!
I’m pretty partial to the sweet baby in the little red wagon! Other favorites are the kids on the beach numbered #1-12! And I love the “second” you captured of the little girl in the navy dress/white hairbow by the brick wall who looks like she’s about to run away…. I love your work, always enjoy looking at your photos. There is one missing: one of your children at Morris Island (with two other kids, I think) with the “minty” backgroud
Happy New Year!
the color, the black/white, the lowcountry captured so beautifully!! job well done.
Beautiful stuff Jennifer. Can’t wait to do a portrait with you again:)
MD, thanks so much for the note!
Liz, I’m so excited about your wedding. Can’t wait to see the gown and all your “appletini” touches. And of course, it’ll be an added bonus to see Andrew’s friends fall in love with the Lowcountry.
You are incredible Jen!
Love your shots, love your style! Cannot wait for our wedding to be captured by you later this spring!
You really caught some beautiful moments in 2010. People seem so happy and lively in your photos..you manage to really capture that perfectly.
Thanks, Kat! Actually, the tall-to-small 12 are my parents’ dozen grandkids. Mine are #7 and #10, and the other 10 belong to my three brothers. Craziness!
Wow, you got some great portraits this year! I’m especially intrigued by the numbered-shirts family – is that really a family of 12 kids? Holy moly. How on earth you did a shoot with 12 kids is beyond me – more power to you!
Have a great 2011!
Your 2010 was fantastic! Great job capturing so many different things; can’t wait to see what you do in 2011.
Thanks, Dean. I had to sneak my family in there — my two kids and their cousins during our beach week!
Thank you for the kind words, everyone! Kyle, it’s funny you say that because I really don’t think of myself as a props person. I usually just work with whatever is around. That said, we did style the baby angler in the wagon and when one couple mentioned their fondness for board games, I suggested they bring Scrabble along, and I tucked it in my backpack as we ambled downtown. When I saw the surfer boys walking toward the girl I was shooting, I hung out atop the lifeguard stand, knowing there would be a fun shot as they strutted by.
WOW, love them all. The number sequence portrait shot is paricularly nice. 2011 is going to be a hell of a year for you!!!
These are so fun, and just beautiful, really. Congratulations on an obviously wonderful 2010!
So many cute props in a ton of these, looks like your clients really know how to have fun with you!
You have some really beautiful captures here. Love the photo of the girl leaning against what looks like a barn door? Beautiful job!
I have always loved the one of the wedding band guys playing trumpets.
(Trumpets, right?)
And the second picture down, the sunset beach dancing, is just marvelous.
They’re all beautiful! Congratulations on a wonderful first year!
What a great year you had! I think the girl looking around the door, the two little sisters, and the engaged couple where she is looking up at him are my favorites!!
Such fun happy images! Lovely work.
wow! I really really love your style! I also am in love with your blog! Good job!!!!
Thanks, Nan! Shhh, I can’t reveal all now. The odd thing you mention will wrap up her wedding story when I finally blog the whole smashing affair in the next week or so.
The girl & the surfers shot makes me chuckle every time. Love them all. Especially my beautiful sis-in-law’s nuptials, of course. (although disappointed the “red neck wedding” shots weren’t chosen)
Stunning, Jen. A great year for you!
You’re too kind, Jeni! I appreciate the feedback, and I’m excited about what 2011 holds.
Thanks a bunch, Rebecca! It was tough to choose from all the lovelies on your perfect spring day. The band leading everyone to the reception and your groovy moped departure were so fun! Hope Dave won’t be bummed that he’s not on this post — “Village Nuts” and his Bill Murray shot came to mind
So glad the Sailor wedding made your list. It was definitely our favorite day of 2010! And, you captured it beautifully!
I just love them all… don’t know how you picked favorites because they are all special but these are grand! Cannot wait to see what’s captured in 2011! xo
